ACCESS(463-3141) is the point of entry for all RACS services in Rockbridge and Bath counties, Lexington and Buena Vista. By calling ACCESS, individuals can get information about services we provide, as well as schedule an intake appointment concerning mental health, mental retardation, or substance abuse issues. ACCESS will assess the situation and set up an appointment, refer the caller to the appropriate RACS unit, refer the caller to other community resources, or arrange an emergency response when indicated.

Emergency Services is for adults, adolescents, or children experiencing a mental health or substance abuse crisis. It is available 24 hours a day and can be reached by calling 463-3141 or by calling 911 after 5 p.m. In Bath Co., ACCESS can be reached at the number above, or locally at 839-3162, or after hours through the sheriff’s department at 839-2375. The Emergency Clinician will assess the situation and provide the necessary response to alleviate the symptoms. There are a number of interventions that may be used and other community organizations or agencies may be contacted as necessary. A psychiatric or substance abuse hospitalization is always a consideration if the individual is not able to be safe in the community.
