Rockbridge Area Community Services seeks applicants for:

Residential Support Staff

Salary: up to $23K DOQ

RACS is currently seeking motivated, qualified individuals to work in one of our area residential group homes located in Rockbridge and Bath Counties.  RACS will provide training, supervision and education opportunities specific to the position.

DUTIES: Requires direct care assistance to individuals in group home settings serving adults with intellectual disabilities. Essential functions of the position include providing supervision/assistance/training in daily living skills; requires assistance with recreational opportunities, daily documentation, administration/monitoring of medications, light housekeeping and the use of a personal computer.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent required; minimum one year experience with adults with intellectual disabilities; strong computer and organizational skills are preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required; must be willing to work weekend and holiday hours; must be physically able to assist adults and lift up to 50 lbs. Requires current/valid Virginia Driver’s License and must maintain a safe driving record per RACS Policy.

Emergency Services Program Manager

DUTIES: The Emergency Services Program Manager is responsible for coordination and monitoring of the day-time and after-hours emergency services systems. Provides direct service as needed and assists the Outpatient and Crisis Services Program Manager and Clinical Director with clinical as well as administrative supervision of Emergency Services Clinical Team.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Minimum of 2 years of behavioral health experience at the managerial level required OR a minimum of 5 years experience providing crisis intervention/counseling services; must be licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as an LCSW, LPC or LCP; must be a Certified Pre-Screener in the Commonwealth of Virginia, or eligible for such, and be certified within 3 months of hire; required to exercise sound judgment, demonstrate initiative, and maintain a high degree of confidentiality in accordance with RACS policies and procedures and HIPAA; must possess a valid VA driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record per RACS policy. Emergency Services and Outpatient Support Technician

DUTIES:  Emergency Services and Outpatient Support Technician will be responsible for answering calls referred to the ACCESS/Emergency Services unit to provide information and referrals; triage requests for services (i.e., adolescent, adult, case management and/or intellectual disability); refers clients requiring crisis intervention/Pre-Screening as necessary to appropriate staff; assists ACCESS Clinician with Intake process; provides post-hospital discharge appointments; provides time-limited case management services (not exceeding 30 days) for adults, children and their families linking them to RACS and non-RACS services as indicated; tracks inpatient bed days for clients; and assists the Emergency Services Program Manager in oversight/monitoring of clients under a Mandatory Outpatient Commitment Order (MOT) – oversight includes, but is not limited to, coordinating MOT orders with the local District Court systems, as well as monitoring all clients on MOT are compliant with outpatient treatment. 


QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in a human services or related field; qualification as Mental Health Professional (QMHP) in accordance with Virginia DMAS Regulations; minimum 3 years post-bachelor’s degree experience providing direct services to clients with serious mentally illness and/or serious emotional disorders including crisis intervention experience; exercise sound judgment, participate in carrying out policies, objectives and programs; demonstrate initiative and problem solving skills as well as maintain a high degree of confidentiality.  Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record per RACS policy. Exercise sound clinical skills, carry out clinically appropriate interventions and strategies.

Prevention Services Program Manager

Salary up to $43K DOQ


DUTIES:  Oversee and manage all RACS Prevention staff, including recruitment/hiring, training, and supervision of staff and programmatic supervision for Prevention programs; work with the Unit Director and Fiscal Officer in developing and managing multiple program budgets; manage all RACS community and school-based prevention services while maintaining a cooperative, coordinated network with schools and other community agencies; support and collaborate with community agencies and organizations to create a coordinated network of prevention services available to youth and their parents; oversee the organization and implementation of a Community Prevention Coalition that meets all requirements of DBHDS’ Prevention Office; develop, provide, and promote educational and other informative materials and resources to school personnel, parents, students, and/or other community organizations; Maintain up-to-date knowledge of prevention best-practices, ATOD/youth issues, effective  parenting and prevention strategies and information, and disseminate as relevant (e.g., through  supervision, trainings, individual research, disseminations, newsletter articles, and educational articles for local newspapers and other community-wide publications); research appropriate grant opportunities, draft proposal applications, and prepare grant reports as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS:  Graduate degree in a human services or related field preferred; five years’ experience working with youth/families and experience developing/managing multiple projects preferred; personnel management and program administration experience; must possess a valid Virginia Driver’s license.

Day Support Professional

Salary: up to $24K depending on qualifications

DUTIES: Responsible for training intellectually disabled adults in activities of daily living, community integration, communication and prevocational skills; administer medications, complete documentation and drive agency vehicles.            


QUALIFICATIONS: Two-year degree in Human Services or equivalent experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities, and excellent communication, computer, documentation and organizational skills.  Must be energetic, positive, enthusiastic and able to solve routine problems and adapt well to change.  Theatrical experience a plus; must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record per RACS policy.

Program Manager –Waiver Services

DUTIES:  This position is responsible for carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the daily operations/management of Waiver services, including but not limited to, the residential group homes. This individual will provide staff supervision, staff scheduling, and leadership in Quality Improvement efforts; ensure compliance with all standards and regulations of Licensure, Medicaid, HIPAA, HUD, and RACS and program specific Policies and Procedures; will work with Residential Coordinators in overseeing all aspects of client care, develop working budgets, as well as educating managers on site specific budgets;  represent the CSS Unit through participation on a variety of RACS committees and various DPM processes; responsible for facilitating and encouraging the establishment of   standardized process in all Waiver programs, including but not limited to, residential sites, including intra- and inter-Agency processes, with the goal of increasing efficiency, increasing productivity, and ensuring the minimization of any real or perceived conflict between Waiver services programs in collaboration with Targeted Case Management; requires Residential on-call duties as deemed necessary in collaboration with CSS Supervisors and Unit Director; position reports directly to the Community Support Services Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in the human services field, or an RN registered in Virginia, and have at least 3 years’ experience in human services, with three years of supervisory experience preferred; Master’s Degree preferred; must meet QMRP criteria under the DBHDS; additionally, QMHP highly preferred; must demonstrate the ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative and strong team-building skills, as well as problem solve behavioral issues and emergency situations.

Intellectual Disability Support Coordinator

DUTIES:  Responsible for providing ongoing ID Support Coordination to adults and children within the catchment area of Rockbridge Area Community Services. Services include but are not limited to: monitoring services, referrals to other agencies/services, assessments and the completions of required documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS: Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the human services field, or a Licensed RN in VA; plus one year of documented experience working directly with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Knowledge and ability with Electronic Health Records and web based program a plus.  Valid driver's license and safe driving required.
