The RACS Prevention Resource Centers (PRC) are a valuable source for information on positive parenting; child development; nutrition; newborn baby care; adjusting to divorce and stepfamily issues; the teen brain; effective communication with kids; helping kids resist alcohol, tobacco and other drugs; special education; peer mentoring; the importance of early childhood education; resisting peer pressure; using family meetings; and much, much more! Available materials include media for parents with children of all ages as well as resources which are also appropriate for professionals who work with families. The PRCs include a diverse media inventory including books, videos and DVDs, CD-ROM curricula, pamphlets, displays, and other items.
At our Greenhouse Rd facility, the PRC is accessible to all professionals who work with families in the Rockbridge Area. Materials can be signed out and shared with families as appropriate.
At our Bacova site, parents and professionals can view media or access internet resources on-line using the PRC’s computer located on site.
